That's a difficult question to answer. The closest thing I can tell you, according to my own understanding of paleontology, is that humans evolved over a long period (several million years) from various species of apes, which eventually became bipedal (walking fully upright) and then evolved further and further into Neanderthal, and then into Cro Magnon man, which is essentially the animal that Homo Sapiens (i.e., us) is, with some window dressing to differentiate, but basically that's who we are. (Cro Magnon man that is.) I should point out that Cro Mags aren't directly related to Neanderthal, but related, sort of like cousins. The why, as in why did our species evolve the way it did and why different species evolved is beyond me at the moment, since that's not really my area of expertise within the history/anthropology field. I'd say that since evolution is more of a genetic adaptation to environment or surroundings, that one of these groups of early apes moved into a different area for some reason, and then adapted to that area, and became a new species, since that is more or less how evolution happens. And as far as "here" is concerned, what and where do you mean? That in and of itself is an even bigger topic.

New research published in the journal Nature (2007 19 July) has proved the single origin of humans theory by combining studies of global genetic variations in humans with skull measurements across the world. The research, at the University of Cambridge and funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), represents a final blow for supporters of a multiple origins of humans theory. New genetic research claims to have "proved" that all humans originate from one single ancestor in sub-Saharan Africa. Researchers until now have been divided by two competing theories, the other holding that populations of modern humans evolved at several locations around the world.

New research published in the scientific journal 'Nature' aims to prove the single origin of humans theory by combining studies of global genetic variations in humans with skull measurements across the world. The research, at the University of Cambridge, is said to "represent a final blow for supporters of a multiple origins of humans theory."

Competing theories on the origins of anatomically modern humans claim that either humans originated from a single point in Africa and migrated across the world, or different populations independently evolved from homo erectus to home sapiens in different areas.

The researchers studied genetic diversity of human populations around the world and measurements of over 6,000 skulls from across the globe in academic collections. Their research knocks down one of the last arguments in favor of multiple origins. The new findings show that a loss in genetic diversity the further a population is from Africa is mirrored by a loss in variation in physical attributes.

The lead researcher explained: "The origin of anatomically modern humans has been the focus of much heated debate. Our genetic research shows the further modern humans have migrated from Africa the more genetic diversity has been lost within a population."

"However, some have used skull data to argue that modern humans originated in multiple spots around the world. We have combined our genetic data with new measurements of a large sample of skulls to show definitively that modern humans originated from a single area in sub-Saharan Africa.

We all can trace the root of our genealogical tree to the same forefather and foremother - which were modern human beings. The merry couple probably lived in south-eastern Africa. Just look at the many fakes that have popped up over the years: Piltdown Man, Java Man, Heidelberg Man, and Peking Man.

One day GOD walked upon the earth and spit on the ground. That then became the blue print for every living thing.
