Most probably he is alive and lives on his own Island, bought with the money he got from the UA government in order to play the bad boy.
The attacks on the WTC go to the account of the US government, the towers have been systematically demolished.

Personally, I think scumbag bin Laden is dead. His image DOES appear doctored. And those suspect "pauses" in the tape, evidence Al-Quada hid their "cyber-tracks" also arise when the English transcript reads of Osama's words on current events. And when the image moves again, the lip sync is terribly off track.
Regardless either way--alive or dead-- Al Quada is very much alive in parts all over the world and deep in the US and UK. I cheer law enforcement: hunt the bastards down and kill them all.
