Yes, they wouldn't test you if they weren't going to hire you.

Nope, it just means that they wanted to get the drug test out of the way.
Most company drug test, can have the results in 3 mins.
Depending on the position you interviewed for and how many applicants they have and how many interviews they have.
It could just be a way to cull the number of applicants.
Generally for professional positions, they wouldn't do that.
But for unprofessional positions,
I have seen them hold the first couple of rounds of interviews, then send everyone left, to be drug tested, before holding the last interviews.
Here's a funny true story.
I was interviewing for a college co-op position.
There were about 30 people interviewing for 10 positions.
We went to the first interview and I was told to go to a room number and wait.
About 12 people joined me there.
Then we were called to another interview and again I was told to go to a room number and wait.
Well 40 mins later, no one had showed up, not other applicants, nor anyone from the company.
So I went out in the hallway, and a employee noticed I didn't have a security badge and ask what i was doing there.
I told them about the interview and they went and got a manager.
I was told to go back to the room and someone would be there in a min.
What happened, was, the manager doing the second interview, had rejected all 11 applicants after me, and forgot he had approved me, so he went back to work.
After we talked again, he told me, during the first interview, they had mentioned a drug test and all 30 applicants were told to go to the room and wait.
But out of 30, 18 had decided to leave, after being told they were going to have to pass a drug test.
Yes, I got the job, even went back the next summer also.

It usually is the last step before a formal offer is extended to you; if they were not very interested, they wouldn't through the expense of sending you for a drug test.
Some employers do drug test and a background check at the last phase and await the result of both before extending an offer. If you are clean on both it is almost certain you will be offered a position.

Not until the results come back.....and your references checked.
It depends on how many other people they interviewed for the job.
It is typical for that to be the timing for drug test. You don't have time to alter the sample or take some potion, etc...

It means that you probably got through step one. If your drug test proves negative then you have a very good chance of getting the position.

No--it means you are one step closer...if you fail you could be denied a second interview if they have one.
There may be other requirements..such as a background check or even a psychology test..which I feel is a bunch of manure.

No, but it means you have a better chance than you would if they didn't ask you to. My philosophy is hope, but don't count on. So good luck and i hope you get the position.
