Yes you should accept for the following reasons:
Brett Favre is at the end of his career. He didn't score a single touchdown against the Eagles on Sunday. I believe his best receiver got hurt in preseason, might be healed up now though. Donald Driver
Jon Kitna on the other hand has THREE elite receivers in Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson (#2 Draft pick with 70+ yrds 1TD against the Raiders), and Mike Furrey who caught more passes then anyone in the NFL last year. Jon Kitna also threw more then any other QB in the NFL last year and most likely do it again because Kevin Jones (Running Back) is hurt.
Alex Smith's 49'ers are said to be heading to the play off's this year. Alex Smith has Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, and Darrell Jackson (Jackson was a stud in the superbowl a year or two ago) to throw to.
Give him Favre and take Kitna, under halfway through the season he'll regret the trade. Smith is just a bonus or failsafe.

also Alex Smith is reliable
brett is still a good contributor but i dont think Green Bay improved enough to help favre out

I cannot see why you would need two QBs for one, but if you have a scrub or no backup QB at all this is even better.
I would take this trade, even if I had a really solid backup QB and cut Alex Smith right after acquiring him. Simply stated, unless your league penalizes for sacks (not Yahoo basic scoring) I would love to have Jon Kitna throwing 50 passes a game.

I would trade. I am big Packers fan but know it is worth it. Jon Kitna your taking a great chance since he has not play as well but is younger and have experience. Alex Smith is young with talent and portential to become one of the best in the NFL. He is starting to gain anough experience to be a force in football.

Easy answer. Yes! Kitna is a beast. He will be great. Favre is probably going to retire this season. I look for him to be like Montana did, by week 7-8 he should be sharing equal time with his replacement. By week 12 he should be providing support and maybe 1 quarter a game. His last home game he will probably start and then have a send off afterwards. He's a great player but he is too old and knows it.
