Yes, 100%. I think the crime rate would be lower and people would make more original music if it wasn't for rap and hip/hop.

Kanye West isn't gangsta rap, NWA or Wu Tang, is gangsta rap. The rap music on MTV isn't what real hip hop heads consider hip hop. If you have an open mind and listen to Mos Def, Talib Kweli or Common, you will see the originality and positive message that MTV rap doesn't have.
No the world would no be better off without hip hop, because we wouldn't have known talented artist such as 2pac, or BIG...
I ask you...would the world be better off without rock? punk? Goth? Perhaps even country. Most music genres have cognotations to them, whether positive or negative....the best thing is to listen to as much as you can and be open.
P.S. I hate fiddy too!

Obviously, you believe it's contrived, and therefore cannot be art. You believe it's designed to make money for the company that contrives the music and creates the "artists" who create it.
Me, I prefer to crank up my old Threshold Class A to fire up my Thiels and listen to '50's, 40's, 30's, 20's and Classical. So maybe we don't have so much of a disagreement. I'm personally tired of the 70's and 80's stuff, though there was much innovation there.
Not that some newer music is bad; but only old fogies listen to the same thing over and over throughout their lives.
Music, like humor, is about the best thing we've created as a species. Best to tolerate some stuff, and learn to appreciate the huge world of great music around us. Rock on.

Just about every back ground beat you hear in rap has be stolen or copied from earlier music. So of course it was better that's why they can not make an original song to save their lives. Their is plenty of good music you just have to ignore all the crap that floats on the surface.

Are you kidding me, not all rap is gangsta, just because the music on mtv sucks that doesn't mean that is all there is. You say there is a lack of originality but that is just not true, again I point the finger at mtv for shoving crap down peoples throats.

I do not like much of what is out there now and I think tht is because I am too old for it. We all tend to like all our lives what we were mostly exposed to when age from eight to twenty. Not my kind of music at all.
Young people will like this music because the industry has told them that is what other young listen to.
Very true you young are very much lead by the nose or ears if you like. You young follow and do not lead.

I agree. I wish I could relive the 80's at the age I am now. Even the cartoons and shows now suck. But its not just hip hop. It used to be fun and innocent. Now its too political.
