well first you need to know english or japanese ... movies or series. and what kind action adventure yadayada. for the english well shrek the third was funny :D. for japanese the new naruto move kicked butt. for series go with bleach, naruto, rouruni kenshin and boondocks. full metal alchemis rocks yeah. so does trinity blood and black blood brothers.
but death note c'mon its great in a manga but the anime is boring to watch i cant watch an anime unless i can expect action somewhere i just get this urge to sleep. so what im an action junkie -.-.

I'm very attached to Hayao Miyazaki's films and always put them first (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, etc) but you also might look at the InuYasha films, Blood, the First Vampire (related to the the Blood+ series), the Initial D movie (instead of a third series, they did a movie) and the two Ghost in the Shell movies. The one movie I do not recommend unless you have seen the full series is the Full Metal Alchemist movie, Conqueror of Shambola--that one is a continuation of the series itself

It depends of what type of animes you like to watch. Right now, I'm hooked with Death Note, it's really cool. I can also recommend Full Metal Alchemist. You can check out this site though for more anime updates: mangavolume.com.
Hope this helps. :)

for anime MOVIES anything by hayao miyazaki is good (spirited away, howl's moving castle, castle in the sky- to name a few)
voices of a distant star is a short movie-it's really sad, but
good
A I R movie- i didn't actually watch this, but i saw the series which basically has the same storyline and it was amazing, but really sad...
i actually haven't watched this movie either, but one of my friends told me it was really good: grave of the fireflies
hope this helps!!
