I believe part of the reason we do not use Sour Cream as currency here in the US is because some people have very severe allergies to milk. Could you imagine a filthy rich man who was allergic to milk? He would be as red as a baboon's "you know what". It's also hard to count out Sour Cream money.

I don't really understand where your going with this question but the answer would be becuase some people are severly allergic to dairy products, and so therefor sour cream just wouldn't be that appropriate.

There are several reasons:
1) Portability & refrigeration/spoilage are an obvious issue
2) Value which is traditionally based on rarity is a concern
3) How could you catch counterfeiters?
4) On the same note, why don’t we use yogurt or cream cheese?

Because it's only good with other things. If it was a currency, it would be used alone at all times, and it would be disgusting. But it needs to be used with other things, ergo, add rice, bean dip, and a tortilla: kickass.

....I gues is wouldn't be fear for those other countries who would actualy use REAL money instead! unless the start going back in the earlier days and do an international food exchange opposed to money exchange. EWWWWWW, it just crossed my mind a picture of myself reaching in my pant's pocket for sour cream to pay for a Lb. of ground beef.
