I have a problem with my 1992 honda accord lx. I was very low on gas and heading to the gas station. 2 blocks away from the station I ran out of gas. After adding a few gallons of gas to my Honda I'm unable to get it started. The car appears to be turning over fine. I can hear the fuel pump engage. I can even smell the gas when I get impatient in trying to get it started. I had a issue with the main relay. That has been fixed in the parking lot where its currently sitting.

So far I have changed the main relay and the fuel filter. What should I check next??

Thanks.

Steve

Sounds like you're getting gas, check for fire by pulling plug wire inserting screwdriver into wire and looking for arc between screwdriver and ground while turning over engine. Also, check rotor in distributor, This generation of engines was bad about vibrating the rotor retaining screw loose causing misfire or no fire.

Check the fuel pressure.. if it is low you may have cooked the old electric fuel pump that is in the gas tank when you ran it dry... It may cost more than the car is worth to fix if you have lot's of miles on the car.

You need to check fuel pressure. It's very likely that crud and gunk got sucked into the fuel pump and is clogging it.
