I think this will help 1st you cant go under his ins cause you guys are not married unless his ins comp has a domestic partner clause but i believe that is only for go figure homosexual couples they the ins com feel if you guys are single then you can get married and pay the dues .
Now about the medicaid it goes by both your if you guys are living together (income) and if you both have your own place and paying rent and all your bills and school expenses but or if you guys are living apart and you or him live at home with parents then they go by his income and if he lives at home then they will feel that he may just make enough to pay the medical insurance again i dont know how much me makes?? and thats if (they offer it to him and his children thru his employer but you said nj if he is in a union then he should only pay union dues and then if shouldnt be that much but is he has to pay ins premiums then they medicaid will ask on the app how much would it cost to cover the child and if it too much based upon how much he makes then hes good so to be safe here is the trick use it or not if you tell them you are pregnant they are gonna ask you for the child birth certificate is the fathers name on it then it will be hard cause they will search for him themselves and have him pay child support but if the fathers name is not on the (bc) then you can say it was a one night stand and you have no info on the father at all and then they will give it to you but they wont give you any medicaid support to you unless you go to child support enforcement .
Wait a minute your pregnant so they will give you medicaid to you also and your child until i believe 1-2 mths after you give birth then they will cut you and keep it for the baby..... I hope this will work for you good luck tell your baby daddy to get a new job with the city of ny in a union job like sanitation, mta, nypd, ny schools best of all of then in a ny or nj hospital that has the union called 1199 seiu they are the best or best of them all united states postal service#1then you guys will never have to worry about anything all trust me on this 1 am 40 years old and retired from work never have to wotk again work in a union job for 20-25 yrs retire while in union put away some extra money in a mutual fund and never touch it when you are retirement age and 20 yrs goes mad fast you will have enough money to live comfortable for the rest of your life ohh yeah ps one more hint but a house a soon a you guys can start with a condo 2 bdrm keep it untill you guys are bith out of school then out it for sale but watch you debt and credit card if you cant buy it cash dont buy it at all keep both your credit scores above 750 now if you both live at home and pay no rent and you dont see yoourselves moving in together for at least 5 yrs go ahead and chip in for a brand new car pay it off then please keep it and dont buy another one now seel the condo buy a used car out right cash and put a nice down payment on a house 30,000 and higher the better and keep it until you retire .. then retire sell if and move down south buy a house cash and bank the rest.................................................. follow this and you will guarantee be set.....both of you UNIONS is the answer

Medicaid is for very low income people under 21 or over 65. Anyone in between that must be disabled, pregnant, blind, a new immigrant, or have minor children, as well as being low income. So unless your BF has an income of $900 a month and is disabled, he does not qualify for Medicaid. Even if he did, it would not cover the baby because you are not married. You dont expect free health care when you make $40K a year? You can give up something else like car payments and use that to pay your insurance premiums. You dont know how lucky you are to get group health benefits that will pay for your delivery.

I don't know how it works there but i'm in oklahoma and since you are not married you would be considered a single parent and yes you should definetly qualify for medicaid unless you make like super good money, exspecialy since your pregnant. I would just say you live alone your with your parents,I wouldn't include his income with yours. but if he doesn't make much then you should be okay.
The best thing to do is call your d.h.s. office and ask them what you need and what's the requirements for pregnant women medicaid, they should tell you the amount of income to qualify. just call and find out, if you qualify you can also get wic while your pregnant then you don't have to worry about doing it after you have the baby, it will already taken care of.
hope this information is helpful, good luck!!

Nope. It's an income based test. If you have no insurance, there is HealthyStart which covers prenatal for you during pregnancy and I think 6 months after & baby up until age 3 or 5 (I don't remember which, off hand) Just go into your social services /human services office and apply. Everyone has the right to apply.

Wow, You have attracted alot of nasty comments here haven't you.. Just ignore them...
I am not sure about your state but in Colorado and Arkansas it is based on your income.
Below are some links to the New Jersy Medicaid site.. It does not mention anything about having to be single.. You have to be a US citizen, and meet their income requirements.. But Good luck.. and I hope this helps..

EDITED> Yes someone mentioned WIC>> definitely sign up for that.. If you don't know what that program does.. They give you certificates to get Milk, Cheese, Cereal, and Eggs until about 2 months after the baby is born.. AND then they provide Formula(unless you breastfeed) and then once they are on cows milk(around 1 year old) you can get Milk, cereal, etc... for your child until they are 5 years old.. It really helps.. Again Good luck to you

You will qualify for medicaid because you are pregnant. If the father resides with you, he will not be affected by your medicaid application but if he is not residing with you, then the medicaid office will require you to apply for child support.
Once this happens, they will have a hearing with both of you present and then they will set a specific amount to be paid to you on a monthly basis. In addition, they will require him to pay a certain amount of your medical bills as well.
If you decide to say that you don't know who the father is, then they will investigate a bit further. They will ask you how many partners you had within the timeframe of conception and may ask the court to have anyone you've named tested for paternity
. Not only that but you will be required to submit the birth certificate right after birth. Now if you say you don't know who the father is....well then you can't place his name on the birth certificate, can you. I personally wouldn't want to leave that blank on my baby's birth record.>.<
Medicaid is offered to households that cannot afford general health insurance. Married couples or couples who live together, qualify for medicaid benefits,as long as their monthly income is well below the poverty rate.
So in essence, if you apply for medicaid, you will get all the health insurance you need for a healthy pregnancy and this is best for your baby but at the same time, you will have to furnish the information regarding the father.
If you are not married to him, i would suggest placing him on child support regardless. I know this may not be something you really want to do, since you seem to care for him and he is very involved in the pregnancy and what not but protect yourself and your child's future. If they do place him on child support they will take only a certain amount of his monthly income.
Believe me, it is better in the long run if you do this now. I wish you luck in everything you do and oh, Congrats on the little one!
***Also, to clarify something, you do not need to be married to get him for child support. The State in which you reside in will require you to furnish the father's name and his last known address because they will enforce the child support clause that is specified by the government. This is a requirement mandated by your State, if you seek assistance.
I'm sorry if anything I said appears to be rude in any way. I'm just giving you a straight concise answer because I've been in your shoes when I was expecting my first son. I've been through the medicaid process personally, since at that time I was unable to afford health insurance. In the end it all worked out. I wish you the best and for anyone who wishes to offer advice, please share only what you know to be true and factual.

If he is living with you they may ask about his income but he wouldn't qualify for help but since you aren't married you should still qualify for medical help for yourself. I lived with my boyfriend when i was pregnant and I had the medical card but he didn't. In fact I lived with my boyfriend in my parents house and I still qualified. When you are married though that is a different story. They will question you about the father of the children though as childsupport can come into play but usually if you are living with the father they just skip past that paperwork but he still has to be on the information or they can get your for fraud

No, but you won't want to include him in your income on the application. You shouldn't have to since you aren't married. Do you live together? Is your name on the lease? If not, find somewhere else you can have your mail sent to-if you live with the baby's father, they include his income. If you don't, but live with someone else, it's fine-they only include it if it's the baby's father. When I had it I said I lived with my parents because I couldn't get medical through work, and they never asked me for any sort of proof. They also never gave me a 'hearing' about getting child support.

I know in the State of Alabama the father does not have to be absent. It depends on the income...And if this is just a b/f i dont see where it should matter in this case. But just to be safe i wouldnt say anything about the father...

Tell them the truth. I live in VA and live with my boyfriend (also soon to be married). Until you are married or a few months after the baby is born they can not use his income (or at least they can't in VA). Good luck and I hope that you get it! It really comes in handy.
