Okay, so I've decided to get a tattoo of my brother's name, Sean. He died two weeks ago in a car accident; he was only eighteen. The only sibling I had. I miss him so much, and my mother and I both want to get tattoos of his name. She can't because of her radiation treatments for cancer. But I'm going to. I just don't know where I should get it. I'm thinking either on my upper arm, or above my heart. Where do you suggest?

First off I am so sorry about your loss. I have a brother who's 19 and I can't even imagine what you must be going through.

I believe that above your heart is the better of the two places. Family whether they are here with us or not will always remain in our hearts. Take good care and best of luck.

I think you should put it on your lower leg, not your hip. I see a lot of guys put it here and it looks good. On the hip I have also seen but I think its less attractive, of course if you're buff and like to go to the beach a lot (haha), that crowd would probably find it cool- if its a cool tattoo. Good luck with your tattoo and being an RN!

First off sorry for your loss ! I would first ask if you want it visible for others to see, will it bother you to have to tell your story to people whenever they notice, or do wish for more of a private memorial for those you choose to share this with. Also I wouldn't put it anywhere that will stretch and warp. ( I made that mistake ten years ago and 15 lbs as well) I might say inside of your wrist so you can choose to show or keep private as well as being able to look upon yourself and smile when his memory no longer brings you sadness and you can smile when you think about him. May peace be with you and yours I know the suffering of loss .

So sorry about your brother, and I hope mom is ok too. Give her a hug and tell her one of your fellow YA responses sends her well wishes. I think maybe your arm for your tat. Over your heart is a nice gesture but I think you may have to explain that to future lovers, and that could be a mood breaker.

Sorry about your loss, I personally like the arm better, but above the heart would mean more.

I think it's more symbolic above your heart.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your brother, may he rest in peace and may God give you and your family the strength you need in this trying time. My prayers are with you and your mother.
