I have a 97 cadillac deville and the other day i seen the coolant temp. reach about 240. I shut off car and seen that my belt on my waterpump was off and that it had burned into the tensioner. I replaced it but when I started it again the temp stilll went to about 220-225. I noticed the fans didn't come on. When are they suppose to come on. When the AC is ran they work. DO you think the high temp have something to do with the fans not working. do you know what might be the problem. I'm scared cuz i have read all the other forum about how these cars have head problems. please help.

I hope the belt tensioner was replaced too, or the belt will die again. Check to make sure the a/c compressor pulley is not dragging, also.
Now for the fans.
You have 3 cooling fan relays. I suggest you check them all.
Then check to see if the coolant temp sensor (for the computer) is good. If all is good, then a wiring fault is present or the engine computer is acting up.
The fans can come on as late as 230*F on some models.

If the fans run with the a.c on then leave the a/c on. This should cool it some. Make sure the radiator is full, check when cold. I would suspect the coolant temp. sensor is not working. This sensor turns your fans on and off. It is usually located wher the top radiator hose enters the engine. An auto supply can help you locate it and possibly test it.
