"NAY", I say!
Begging or asking, it's still soliciting, and attempting to obtain a Star by means of persuasion might convince some people to adorn someone with a Star but, in my book of rules, that Gold Star must be earned by virtue of the fact that the Question be an interesting one that I feel would appeal to the entire community and therefore gets the "Star treatment" or, perhaps it's my own personal reward for presenting me with an interesting and thought-provoking Question.
The fact that even this particular Question of yours here is one that I believe so many have wondered and thought about, that...for this reason alone, I feel it's deserved of the aforementioned Gold Star.

mmm...I really don't have an opinion either way...I think it is harmless for the fact that you don't recieve any points for it, but it is getting to where ppl are just asking for the sake of asking....The point is to ask a good question to get a star....and when there is no question then what is really the point?
