It depends on where you are applying. If outside the US, IB makes more sense. If within the U.S, a lot of schools don't seem to know what IB is.

I can really only address the IB Program.
Okay, I have been noticing a common thing with IB. It's people saying, "Most colleges don't recognize IB."
That is completely ridiculous. I first heard it from a friend and immediately became worried.
I have been to numerous college presentations: All of them said they recognize the IB program.
A family member visited 11 different colleges along the east coast in states such as New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia, and more.
Every college he visited said they recognized the IB program.
The IB is an internationally recognized program, so don't worry about this rumor.
If you're still unsure, you can always look into colleges in your area.
Now, I do know that IB is a harder program than AP.
However, I know that usually classes in IB are weighted.
Ultimately, the choice is up to you. If you're unsure which program is right for you, talk to parents, teachers, and/or counselors.
If you'd like to read more about each program, you can visit the following sites for IB and AP:

AP:
