The only reason that Earth is an inhabitable planet is because of the oceans. Since water has a high heat capacity, meaning it takes a lot of energy to change it's temperature, they moderate the temperatures on Earth. So the fact that we have any climate that is liveable is due to the oceans. Additionally for the most part the oceans are where the moisture in the atmosphere comes from which then circulates in the atmosphere and provides our rain, snow, etc. The bottom line is without oceans there would be no climate and no inhabitable Earth.

Ocean circulation drives climate. No ocean. No real climate to speak of.
