First put on a protective coating of DEET-based mosquito repellent. Then look for sources of standing water like stagnant puddles, tin cans, poorly hung house gutters. Look for mosquito larvae or rafts of mosquito eggs in them and scoop them up with soup ladles and transfer them into a wide mouth jar with cheesecloth netting tightly over the top.

well the answer is your trying to kill a specific insect therefore you need that insect to breed mosqitoes it is relativly easy put out abucket of water the female will lay eggs but watck the larvae the incubation cycle is 7-14 days screen the top after the larvae appear
the females are the transmitters of diesease so don't worrry to much the females rearing eggs are the ones to worrry about as a precaution use a deeet based insecticide when working with them and when outdoors

Some pet stores sell wingless fruit flies for use as fish/insect food. They also carry crickets for feeding to reptiles. Call around to your local pet stores and see who's got 'em.
