No, not really. They are actually cleaning themselves. They frequently need to clean their eyes, wings, etc. to get the dust off of them.

Why?

Imagine having a speck of dust in your eye.

Now, imagine having over 1,000 eyes.

Imagine that the speck of dust is the size of one of these eyes.

They are cleaning themselves. They are always getting into all sorts of things and then going elsewhere to clean themselves thus spreading germs everywhere.
