I have a problem I need help with. Don't do it for me just explain what [x] means in the statement y= [x] -x

I suspect that it means absolute value. [-x]=x; [x]=x. So, y =0.

it means the absolute value or distance from zero. If it's parenthesis then do that part first.

I have no idea... is it suppose to be y = |x| - x or y = [x] - x?
