We have to order our class ring by mon. or tues. of next week. I have pretty much decided that I am going to get the Magnum in the Acheiver series. Our school rock is the dark green may rock. My question is what type of metal should i choose. I am between the silver elite which is a mix of silver and platinum and yellow lustrium which is electroplated in 23K yellow gold. I am just wondering if yellow lustrium is a nice metal or not. I realize that it is not gold but i just don't want to be extremely dissappointed with it. If you know anything about yellow lustrium like if it is durable or if it looks nice let me know.

Lustrium is stainless steel and silver ( for white lustrium ) so it would be the same only with electroplated gold . You would have to clean it more but I think it will stand up very good.

You could always go to a jewelry store and ask if they can show you samples of each of the metals you mentioned. Also, try on something in each and see which looks better on your hand (for instance, I cannot wear yellow gold because it never fails to turn my finger green, and it simply doesn't go with my complexion. However, the white gold, silver, etc. looks better on me). You also want to think of price--you want something nice that will last you a long time, but you also don't want to be in debt for three or four years either. I recently replaced my high school class ring in a silver titanium metal and with tax/shipping, it was over $200--the same price I paid for my college ring in 1975 (and it was white gold, so I'd hate to think what it would cost me now.).

I got the imitation precious metal one that is just silver colored and it has held up great (class of 2001 baby!) Its only so-so shiny but not 'brilliantly' shiny like white gold would have been, but I too was on a budget b/c of a family crisis, I even got screwed out of prom b/c we couldnt afford it =(

I never got a class ring, and never regretted it. Just get whatever is the cheapest. It's not like you are going to wear it out to clubs when you're 21.
