Burlington, VT (airport code BTV) is a popular choice for Canadians to fly out of; it's about 1.5 hours south of Montreal. I've seen fares to Seattle for $125 R/T a few months ago; there are other good deals, too.
Plattsburgh, NY, (PLB) (1 hr south of Montreal) wants to get in on that action, but so far it's all talk, no action.

The closest international airport is Logan Field in Boston. It is 5 hrs from Montreal.
However, Plattsburgh (NY) recently opened a regional airport that they classify as "international" because they also have flights into Canada. That is about an hour from the US/CANADA border going up I-87 and is built on the site of what was Plattsburgh Air Force Base.
And as others have mentioned, there are also smaller airports located in Burlington (VT) and Massena (NY).
