I think the peer pressure would be horrible.
I know we had problems in our teenage years as well but are they anything compared to what our teens have to live with right now? We never had shootings in schools, for example.
How do you feel, from one senior to other seniors?

No! No and no! I would not want all that pressure they are under now! The danger and all the temptations...NO WAY!

I wonder if our children ever feel safe anymore at all? I mean, children are taken from their bedrooms and this has got to be worrysome for those who are old enough to understand. Then, no safety at school, where they spend most the day. No safety in churches as people are going in and shooting the pastor and congregation!

Our babies are being inundated with nothing but, violence and discourse. I cannot imagine being a child in today's society! We used to run around all day outdoors and only came in when we had too! Our babies cannot do this! It is so sad and says way too much about the situation in our world!

Look at Halloween! Some, have been poisoned, found pins/razor blades and other objects in the candy...meant for a child!

This topic, is one that bothers me to the core! I cannot imagine how our children feel by the time they reach their teens! No wonder so many of them turn to drugs and alcohol and this world sure puts off a lot of pressure on all age groups of children!

No no no no no no NO!
I would not want to be a teen in this day and age. Crimony! Everywhere you look these kids are inundated, not only with what they need but what they SHOULD have to make their lives worthwhile. And as easy as it is for us to sit back and say they can do without, we don't understand the enormous peer pressure and the ways it is expressed now.

When my sons were teens, I didn't have the funds to provide them with all the designer wear and the fancy sneakers . I figured they could do quite handily with store brands. The boys had other ideas and both took jobs to pay for the extras they wanted...along with helping me out. It wasn't just about the clothes, it was about the battles that would ensue over being made a target because they were different. And yes I stepped in but I couldn't be there 24/7 and most often these battles took place at school. Overcrowded, understaffed schools.

Then there is the driving issue. When we were growing up there were far fewer cars on the roads. Driving for us was fun. It was something all teens looked forward to being able to do...and still do. But the number of cars on the roads and the amount of bad driving and openly expressed road rage makes driving now a whole different ball game.

These are but a few examples of why I, personally wouldn't want to be a teen now. I have respect for the kids who wade through all of it and manage, somehow, to thrive. More power to them.

I do, I do! With the condition that I know everything I know now! Of course, that would carry some fall out with it...I would never feel the passion I once felt, for I know the results now. I would not have wild dreams of improbable futures, and the dreaming was the fun part...oh, hell, I still do...guns and all. If I were a teen, I could dodge bullets with a single leap, bound tall building with a single jump! To hell with the problems....let me be a teenager again, and I will make a whole new set of problems...why be a follower when you can be a leader? But between you and me, I think my chances of being a teenager again are less than my winning the lottery ... this is NOT the Outer Limits, and this ain't "Kick the Can." Love and Peace, Goldwing

I don't think I would want to be a teenager in this day and time. It's hard enough being an adult. What with all the crime, violence, drugs, disease. I don't think I would last long. It
was hard enough when I was a teen, but at least people weren't as mean. We would pull pranks on people, but we never hurt anyone. Now days you can't turn on the news and not see where teens ( especially young teens ) have committed violent crimes. What has happened? I think a lot of parents are to wrapped up in making money to take the time to teach children morals, if they them self's even know what that is. Society has eliminated 'the wood shed' with trying to buy or pacify there children with material things.

I personally would not want to be a teenager right now. Today's teenagers have to much freedom, and when they make a mistake, there is no consequences , therefore the reasons for the crime amongst teenagers today. If I did 1/4 of the things some teens do today, I would never sit down again. Not only would I faced punishment at school, but 10 worst when I got home. Do I hate my parents for doing that.. Heavens no. They knew more than I gave them credit for.

I would love to be that age right now. But, with some of the knowledge I've gained at my present age. Yes, there are school shootings. And every one of them has been a reaction to bullying. People express some fears about Halloween. But, the danger is part of our urban mythology. There has never been one documented case of food tampering associated with the treats given out at Halloween.
Folks speak of peer pressure. I wonder how much of that is really parental pressure. The sort which tries to convince some young girl that she has to strive to be "popular". How many parents work at trying to make the teenagers in their families National Honor Scholars, rather than cheerleaders or student athletes?

I think it would be terrible being a teen now. I ended my teenage years in 2000. The 90's were a great time for me to be in high school/college. Music, movies, etc...

It's not the school shootings that make me worry, it's the disillusionment of our culture. Celebrities are now famous for being rich, and not rich for being famous. I mean, it seems that with the media now, there is MORE pressure to be beautiful, etc... more so than when I was growing up. That can't be easy for anyone.

Never ever. It has got to be one of the worst decades or eras to be young in. I work with a Drug Rehab Ministry, and I honestly would never want to have all the stuff the younger generation gets into, happen to me.

I, or any any of my friends who even TRIED any kind of drug.

I think that it has to be the hardest era yet, to try and get through, and still come out of and be stable and have a good future.

The confusion and pressure on young people today is just way too much.

I wouldn't. I worry about my children, they are still young, but if things are like this now, what will it be like in 10 or more years? Peer pressure is horrible, too many drugs, guns, alcohol, media influence, etc. All I can do is pray for all, and pray that the parents of today teach their children correctly.

Not me, no way. I wouldn't want to be a teenager again in any decade, but this one has to be the worst ever. The divorce rate, peer pressure, not feeling safe anywhere, gangs, and the cost of college is through the roof. And, my parents thought the '60's were so awful.
