"Keep back 500 feet" is good. That's almost 2 football fields away. I would need a telescope to see that.

If you will consider that it is given that everyone should keep their distance, then things like that sounds funny.
But, everyone should be reminded somehow.
And one thing, it also tells us how descipline drivers are, for how descipline are you to be always reminded by something that essentially you already know.
