Ok...so my parents gave me $5,000 as a gift. The truth is, I don't want to spend it on myself. I make my own money, and would feel selfish to use it knowing that they have no retirement funds/investments. So my question is, how would YOU spend this money on your parents?

Thank you

Invest it as if it were for YOUR retirement. When and if they need it, you can give it back with interest.

Have you ever heard of Kiva? If not, Google it and use your imagination for using $500 of the money. Put the rest in some kind of investment or savings and keep it there for your parents in case they have a "rainy day". You will have double the pleasure.

It is a gift. It is insulting to return a gift like that. Save it. If it's needed for an emergency you'll have it then. Open an account in their name if you want.
