If you failed to answer the summons and complaint, they got a judgment against you by default. The judgment is good for ten years and is renewable. It will appear on your credit report and collecting on it would be an attachment on your wages, bank accounts, or property. A lien for the amount of the judgment will be placed against your name. What can you do about it? Nothing.....except pay it off and get a "satisfaction of judgment".

i assume you are talking about a civil judgement ??

if you were not served / didn't know that you had a court date to attend to / i believe you could go to court and have that judgement vacated . i do not know how process service works in prison . i'd assume that you would not have to accept any visits from anyone you did not know.

The other side of it is if the person is in prison and they have no assets / what good is the judgement ? not like they have any big wages they can garnish. they can't collect money if a person just doesn't have it . Winning a judgement is one thing ... collecting it is a whole other war.

Well...nothing. Although you have a right to be taken to ANY court date while you are incarcerated. If you already missed the court date, though...sorry. They won't do anything for ya.
