Yes it would be fascist. What constitutes stupidity? How is that measured? It it ones ability to work math problems? Reading comprehension? There are many who can barely read or write that have more sense those those with degrees. So I am inclined to not limit any citizens freedoms when it comes to the vote.

No, it is not a good idea because what would you base IQ on? There would be too many people with ideas to make sure certain people would not be able to vote. Some people could make the test racially, culturally, or any other type of bias. Then there would be others who would claim bias.

Too much trouble. Besides, voting is a right for almost everyone. What I want is for them to get rid of the Electorial votes, and make it the majority votes like all others. If that happened, then bush wouldn't have been elected.

If the laws don't apply to stupid people then yes, they should have no say in how they're drafted, interpreted, and enforced. If you want the laws to apply to EVERYBODY then EVERYBODY has a right to participate in the process. Trust me, no matter your IQ or education level there's somebody out there that thinks YOU'RE an idiot and shouldn't be allowed to vote. And judging by your spelling and punctuation (two mistakes in two sentences, if you count the question) they'd be right. You see? Would you be willing to give up your right to vote because of a typo? Do you think others should have the right to take it from you?

you are able to bypass or fail an IQ attempt in case you place a bypass or fail mark on it. the excellent difficulty with democracy is that the government is in simple terms as effectual by way of fact the persons are. XD So needless to say it would be extra perfect if stupid human beings could not vote. by capacity of increasing the intelligence of the persons you boost the ability of the government by way of fact it turns right into a peoples government. however, extremely we enable the dumb human beings vote and rely heavily on social distractions to teach human beings remote from significant issues like politics so the government can do a shitty activity. And no, the best human beings interior the country never run it.

They did that in the South, to keep blacks from voting... Where would you draw the line? What Nr. What test? who makes up the test?

Maybe it would be better if you had to be able to say a word larger than two syllables to become President.. That would have left Bush out and we would be in great shape instead of on the verge of going under as a Country.

Yes. BTW, stupid people generally don't vote at all. They think they can't change anything. With enough opposing votes, Bushco wouldn't have been able to steal 2 elections in a row.
Imagine how much better things would be if people bothered to learn who the candidates are and what they're really about.

First, you'd have to define stupid. Fascist to try.

I don't know if Fascist is the right term, but it wouldn't be right. Besides the problem is that too many people don't bother to vote; not that people are too stupid to vote.
Maybe there should be a poll tax and anyone who doesn't bother to vote should have to pay it.

It woudn't be facist--it would be racist. That is one of the strategies used by white supremecists to disenfranchise African-Americans up until the practice was declared unconstitutional in the 1940s.

But the motivation--whether race-based or whatever--of advocating such tests is the same: to define anyone who disagrees with what YOU want as "stupid" and bar them from having a vioice in the political process.

That "you" isn't personal, BTW--I realize that you are asking a serious question. My point is that, well-intentioned or not--that is what ends up happening when some people start deciding others "ought not" to be able to vote.

They should require you to be somewhat intelligent when you vote. Seeing as how they won't let someone drive until they're 16, I say we require you to pass a "basic level" IQ test before you can vote.

Parenting also. We don't want morons breeding.

I think it would be a great idea, however it would be the end of the two party system. After all when the Dems lose 60% of their voter base how are they going to sustain the party?
