explain that the reasons that 12 year olds are not allowed to vote are without merit. That the idea that 12 year olds would make bad decisions is not true because 50% of the US made a bad decision in 2000 and 2004. With that reasoning we should not let anyone vote.

Google Kid's Vote. The only thing I believe possibly is that by getting involved you can pass on that enthusiasm to your parents and other adults. If you have to affirm the idea that it is valid & debate that you need to prove why at 12 someone can be responsible to Vote? Many older people do not vote so that won't be tuff. Talk about the rights given as part of our freedoms to utilize our opinions to make a difference. (Criminals & convicted felons can not vote and loose the privilege) How to research candidates and get involved, register and where to go some basic stuff. Knowledge is key here. Then take a poll in school ask classmates to get question ideas to present. It always helps to consider your constituents. Look it up. Google debates and see if you can get more feed back here again with more questions. Good luck.

Umm no, a lot of 12 year olds are immature (I sort of was too) they have no concept of responsibility and it's just too young for a kid that ageto be deciding the fate of this country Plus unless they work 12 yr olds don't pay taxes so their is no need for them to vote because once you hit 18 and you pay all the taxes besideds income, that is wen ur represented

When the average 12 year old can name our three branches of government and what purposes they serve, when they can name our President, Vice-President, The Speaker of the House, etc.

Then maybe 12 year olds should get a vote.

There are adults who can't do that.

The real answer is 'Absolutely Not!" A child's brain is not fully developed until around 18 or 19 years old. Today's pre-teen can't even pass a drivers test, understand politics, find Iraq or Iran on the map, have understanding of World Events.... etc.

Your assignment seems ridiculous.

Well, by the time your 12, you have logic, and reason. You can understand what people are talking about, and you have morals.

Many of todays youth have enough knowledge to vote.
