"And let me be clear: the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The lack of protection for these tribes from al Qaeda made it clear to these tribes, “We have to fight al Qaeda ourselves.” It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords had to create a temporary peace here on their own. And that is because there was no one else there protecting them"

Yes. Why do Democrats vote in such anti-American traitors?

That is pretty much what a lot of people are saying. The progress in Anbar has been organic - growing on it's own, not as a result of US force.

What's reprehensible about that? Finally, some Iraqis are standing up so we can stand down. Isn't that what we've been saying we want to happen?

He's right!!!

The success in Anbar was happened because the sectarian factions united to fight al Qaeda. This sort of cooperation can is what will bring success in Iraq. There is nothing our troops can do to bring peace to Iraq. The problem needs a political solution, not a military one.

When Chuck Schumer was first running for office, I was putting two kids through college.
He ran on a ticket that included education reform and low cost loan assistance for New York State students.
I voted for him.
Both my kids have graduated.
I'm still waiting for Schumer to deliver on his promise.

"Sen. Chuck Schumer and New York teacher union leaders cover up that we need reform by only talking about money. Show us the results with the money you've already spent. It's results that matter, not expenditures."

-- Rod Paige, U.S. Secretary of Education

voted no: Reduce college textbook costs via federal rules & deductions.
voted no: School vouchers
voted no: Educational Savings Accounts
voted no: Extending tax credits beyond interest expense to include a percentage of tuition.
voted no: Federal or state aid to schools that allow voluntary prayer.
Did not participate in any other votes concerning tax or tuition reliefs for parents paying for University or graduate school.

Teacher Testing: Current law is that states certify teachers and decide what their requirements are; there are currently no national standards nor testing. Schumer and most liberals favor raising teacher pay and oppose teacher testing on the grounds of treating teachers more ‘professionally’.

Class Size: Many liberals advocate for smaller class sizes, and/or building more schools to achieve them. Generally, any reference to ‘smaller classrooms,’ or especially to ‘building public schools’, implies opposition to funding private schools. Schumer's voting record bears that out.

The man is a sot.

No. If the surge was working, Petraeus would have said, "Yes, America is safer than it was". He refused to say that, though because the surge is not working, and he knows it. He has a job to protect...he knows what happens to people who disobey Bush's orders! He is a spokesman for Bush and he knows exactly what to say to appease Bush.

Goodness, what a reprehensible act by stating the truth.

Next thing ya know, some President will dictate policy by belief in bible verses.

Most reprehensible? I remember a man by the name of Craig over the last couple of weeks...

...and what he said is true. If it weren't, then ALL 19 benchmarks would have been made, not less than half.

No Larry Craig is.

Schumer's right. The Iraqis want us to leave, the soldiers and their families want to leave, everyone wants US soldiers out of Iraq except the chimpies. We're causing more problems than we're solving over there and the surge never accomplished squat.

Get over it.
