You buy a new one, unbolt the old one bolt on the new one. might need a new gasket

what about it? are you sure you need to repalce the valve itself. They can be run by a sensor and vacuum lines or if old enough as yours might be only vacuum lines. Make sure your vacuum lines are good, with no holes....

usually pretty easy to replace, replace only if its bad otherwise you are just wasting money....normally they are held down by two bolts and have maybe two vacuum lines.
