so some number with the exponent 1/2 = 10
please explain how to do

It's quite simple actually, as in any algebra problem just transfer everything to the other side to resolve it:

x^1/2 = 10

x = 10^ 2/1

get rid of the one and you have x = 10 ^2 (10 square)

so...

x = 100

Let's see...x^1/2 is the same as the square root of x. So you have the square root of x equals 10. Just square both sides, and you get x=100. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Multiply both sides by ^2. It should look like this:

x = 10^2

Now, 10^2 you should know. :P

x = 100

you take the square root of x to the first and set it equal to 10. what number equals 10 when you take its square root?? 100. duh! lol
