Buy (or find a piece of wood) about 3/8" thick x 24" x 36" , then buy from a craft store a piece of styrofoam as about 1/4' to 3/8" thick and glue it to the board. Be careful because certain glues will melt the styrofoam. (You can use foam instead) Then find a fabric you like to match your decor and some ribbon and tacks, (you will need enough fabric to 'wrap' the board) then cover the front and staple to the back by overlapping to the back about 1" or so. Then use the ribbon to criss cross on the front and tack at center of each criss cross. Then cut an even rectangle to cover the back and fold over the cut edge to place over the stapled area and the ribbons edges.

To craft the PIN BOARD itself is an easy task. Without knowing if you intend a SAMPLE board or a WORKING BOARD, all I have are materials suggestions.

Purchase a piece of FOAMCORE, it is sold in various thicknesses. Get hold of a piece of DROP ceiling panel. Get a cork board.

Get a drop ceiling panel, cover it with any material you like and you are done. We use this type in our offices and they work well and look nice.
