She has served her time for shooting her abusive husband and now her in-laws are trying to keep her from getting back custody of her three daughters. I think that this is an outrage and her husbands parents are even trying to keep Mary from appearing on Opra tomorrow claiming that it would make finding an impartial jury difficult. I think that her inlaws should just butt out and that she should get her daughters back. It isn't their business and it's her right.

I don't know. Her doing her time doesn't necessarily mean she's sorry for shooting her husband. It doesn't mean that the issues she has with abuse are resolved. She could be overprotective of her children to the point where she doesn't want her three DAUGHTERS to date for fear of them endingup in the same situation as her. I'm not saying that women in her situation aren't fit parents, I'm saying that she needs counselling or therapy or BOTH to help her heal HER own wounds before she tries to raise children and mend their wounds. It's a long cycle, and we don't want her children to end up in the same loop.

About her in-laws - they may not condone what their son did to his wife, but they rightfully are concerned about the three girls because any way you see it, Mary Winkler shot someone.

Self defense is one thing, but she went to jail. Obviously it wasn't self defense. Mary was probably just tired of being abused or scared that her husband would kill her this time, but she wasn't exonerated. Her daughters will have to live with HER stigma and jail record should they be restored to her custody.

Also, how will she support THREE children with her record?
You're wrong when you say it isn't the in-law's business and Mary's right. She relinquished her rights when she shot her husband. There are other ways to get out of that situation. Spy cams are under $30. She could have videotaped the abuse. Had neighbors secretly call the police when they heard him abuse her - or better yet, have the children call the police, because if her husband even once threatened the children, he'd be in jail and she'd already have custody. I understand that Mary was afraid, but she wasn't too scared to pull the trigger.

BTW, I think her damn stupid husband got what he deserved if he was abusive. No one has the right to treat someone that way. Man woman child or other.

Let Me see if I have all the facts.
She shot Her husband, Matthew whilst He lay sleeping.
She served a mere 5 months in prison for this crime.
She was placed in a mental health facility for an additional 2 months.
She WILL be allowed to appear on the Oprah Show, but not to meet directly with Her in Chicago.
She will receive benefits as a result of Her appearance. Correct?

Now then in order for You to get support for Her plea You will need to do the following.
Prove She was actually abused.
Prove that She had exhausted all alternative means of ensuring Her safety.
Then prove that the shooting was justified.
Then prove that She is a good Mother.
Then prove that She will never again become psychotic. Then prove that She has the right to gain fame, fortune and credence.
Then find out how much She has made from the crime for which She committed.
Next establish that Society is not the other victim of Her crimes.
Then ask Yourself why it is that You are supporting Her actions.
Well? What is Your true motivation?

we dont have proof he physicaly abused her . In fact the way shedescribed what set her off was chilling . A couples verbal argument.

On Friday, June 30, 2006, Mary Winkler's bond hearing was held. A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent read a statement Mary Winkler gave to authorities in Alabama, where she was arrested a day after her husband's body was found. In it, Winkler says she did not remember getting the gun but she did know her husband kept a shotgun in their home. The next thing she heard was a loud boom. Matthew Winkler was shot in the back as he lay in bed. He rolled from the bed onto the floor, and, still alive, he asked his wife, "Why?" to which she responded, "I'm sorry." When she left the home, Matthew Winkler was still alive.

According to the statement, she and her husband had been arguing throughout the evening about many things, including family finances. She admitted some of the problems were "her fault." Furthermore, she said, "He had really been on me lately criticizing me for things — the way I walk, I eat, everything. It was just building up to a point. I was tired of it. I guess I got to a point and snapped

What’s interesting, Meredith, at the trial, she took out a pair of high heels and she said, ‘This is how I was abused. He made me wear these heels when we were intimate with each other,’” Pirro said. “That’s not abuse. This is ridiculous.”

i'm uncertain how i think approximately it. i desire to assert it truly is faulty that they might return teenagers back to a murderer yet why did the grandparents hand the youngsters over and not making use of a courtroom order? i'm against the concept that ladies human beings can get away with homicide. I even have seen no longer something of feminist helping this judgment; purely male suitable activist claiming that those blogs exist. I checked 6 pages of google and actual could no longer locate something from feminist helping the alternative. of course it truly is a decision that would desire to take a particular look yet we've not heard from the youngsters; they are people who understand the actuality. They understand regardless of if or no longer they have been abused and that they desperate to pass with the mummy. this difficulty is to iffy to be sure regardless of if i think that it truly is arbitrary to flee with homicide for a lie or regardless of if it truly is a sufferer, who grew to become an attacker, and then served her time. I lean in the direction of it truly is to early for her to have custody of her teenagers. She should not be trusted through rip-off she have been given in touch with that proves she is definitly no longer interior the recommendations-blowing physique of recommendations. did no longer O.J. get away with homicide? Mary had to serve time.

I don't agree. Who in their right mind would give custody of three children to someone who is unstable enough to pick up a shotgun and blow someone away? As far as "abusive husband" the best she came up with was he called her names, made her wear a wig and high heels and watch porn. Get a divorce. Now those kids are without a father.

The heroine? She is far from any kind of heroine. She is a cowardess who shot her husband while he slept she did it for her own reasons and just because she claims abuse doesn't mean it happened. I'll prove it try this say " I am 17 feet tall" now unless you grew several feet after trying this then ,making a claim doesn't make it true. And no she should never be allowed to be near her kids SHE KILLED THEIR DAD.

So you believe a woman who takes the term divorce to a new level, by shooting your husband to get out of a marriage, as a person who could be trusted not to kill her children if her relationship sourers with one or all of the children.

Well im glad you are not in charge of this. And good on the grandparents for looking out for the best interests of those children.

There are other ways to get out of an abusive situation. Blowing your husbands brains out may seem good but it's a crime no matter how you look at it.

Those children need stability in their lives, which they will never get living with the women that killed daddy.
