No way. I don't let stuff bug me if it's not worth it. Child abuse, that's worth my anger. LOL? - not worth my anger, but I can at best, smile at someone's attempt to be descriptive in their communication. Don't let stuff bug you so much and you'll be happier, I'm sure. Live and let live.

But then people will eventually start to use rlol to mean anything they thought was funny and we'll need rrlol for really real laughing out loud and the vicious cycle will go on and on into infinity and I'll just lol.

"LOL" I believe is the most popular and most used instant messenger/chat acronym available. I type even when I'm not laughing, but usually when the person says something funny or amusing. It's easy to type and it somewhat stands for "laughter"..not everyone likes to type "HA HA HA HA"...or "That was funny!!"

LOL is a term that ADDS to expressions in an IM. it doesn't literally mean that someone is laughing out loud, although that's what it means. Words are just words without interpretative indications like "LOL" or an exclamation of "WTF" every once in a while.

I wouldn't say it angers me but I do get annoyed with the overuse of LOL or any netspeak like OMG WTF.
