I'm not sure about hot sauce, but cayenne pepper comes in very handy when trying to discourage the local delinquents from getting up on your roof in the middle of the night. Just sprinkle it along the handrail on the deck where they boost themselves up and, voila! Well, it isn't quite that quick. You have to wait for them to rub their eyes, pick their noses or take a leek. That's when the fun begins.
Unfortunately they don't seem inclined to come around as often anymore.
