In your original case, let the sides be of length x,y and z.
You now have a new box with side lengths 2x,2y and 2z.
Sp, your new volume of the box is 2x2x2 = 8 times the volume of your previous box.
Since the density of the block remains the same, the only thing that can change is the mass - therefore, it now weighs 8 times as much - 24 oz.

Block A weighs 3 oz and has area a1 = x³
Block B weighs X oz and has a2 = 2³x³ = 8x³
setup a simple proportion:
x³ is to 8x³ as 3 oz is to Xoz
(8x³ * 3)/x³ = 24 oz

the first block x long, y wide and z high would have a volume of x*y*z.
the second block of 2x long, 2y wide and 2z high would have a volume of 8xyz.
so the weight would be 8* 3 oz or 24 oz. This would be 1 1/2 lbs.

assume the block is 2 inches by 2 inches by 2 inches therefore 8 cubic inches ,.. now double the sides to 4 inches
4 inches by 4 inches by 4 inches is 64 cubic inches
64 divided by 8 is 8
thus it is this means that it will be eight times
the weight i.e.: 8 x 3 = 24 ozs or 1.5 lbs
