Seriously , in real life , your body decomposes , Judgment happens , then you go to Heaven ( or you go Home to be with the Lord ) or Hell ( and no it's not temporary , it's forever ) and there isn't such a thing as a purgatory or a '' middle of the road '' or reincarnation ( or incarnation ) and yes we do have spirits , unlike animals who just have Souls and Bodies , we ourselves are '' 3D '' , Body , Soul and Spirit , so people who are fooling themselves now ( no Heaven , no Hell , no God ) will regret that later when they finally go into the after life and wish that they could take it back
Note - Some people '' come or came back '' from the afterlife either because they were saved and God said that their time hasn't come yet or because somebody was praying for them or because they came back temporarily and then went back , but most of them ( saved or not ) rarely recollect the '' accounts '' but if they do it is were very '' blurry/foggy '' or they don't remember anything except that they came back ( unless it was a vision* ) because somehow either God or the Devil ( I believe that it's the Devil ) doesn't want people to know about '' the experience '' there ( in the afterlife ) or the spiritual realm
Either way whether people see them or not , it doesn't mean that they aren't there

I have to agree with janiesharen comment. When my mom was dying she kept coming back a few times also, but couldn't talk just enough to say I love you. She fought very hard 2x with body shakes and all. And shaking her head no to me that she didn't want to go. Yes, I believe their is an after life for sure. And they are much happier than us and feel no pain or anger. I met with a medium who never asked me any questions at all, and she brought my mom through and everything she said was only known between me and my mother. Although my mom said heaven was the same as the earth world they do everything the same their as here, she said she was surprised at this. Made me laugh because she would say that too.

I think it depends on the life you lived. I do believe in an afterlife. I think it is what you did in your first life that determines what will happen in your next life. Good person who did good things= you get to live however you want. Bad person who did bad things= coming back to earth to live out another life in which you have little control over. I don't believe in Heaven and Hell. Well I don't know, those are just my personal thoughts and my personal opinion. But I'm ready for the thumbs-down anyway. =)

Nobody knows. Every religion has it's own doctrine but in objectivist terms no one knows anything about it. Atheists have their own belief (consciousnes evaporates, sort of),but that also has no objective proof. There is no subject on which more has been written. And yet in material terms we know absolutely nothing whatever about any presumed afterlife yea or nay or what it might or might not consist of. It's all belief - including the athiest version.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.
(Psalm 146:4) His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish.

Personally, I don't believe anything happens. I think we are just another part of the planet and cycle of life, and when we die, we are gone.
I don't know if that's it as I have not died and come back, and I do not know anyone who has who can tell me. I guess I'll really find out when it happens. Until then it's all speculation.

I would like to think that we go to some wonderful place but from what I've actually seen it's more like you turn all sorts of unnatural colors and smell really bad, and flies come and then there's a gazillion maggots all over you and eventually you're just a skeleton.

I love this question! I will star it :P.
I think after death, the brain stops working, the heart stops working, and the spirit is eternal, but the spirit has no energy or life and cannot be seen.
