six years ago today a horrible tradegy occured and two planes flew into the world trade centers in New York City...you all know what i'm talking about. before then, not many non-muslims knew much about Islam or its people. after 9/11 not much changed except Islam's reputation. i'm a muslim and to me 9/11 was as much as a tradegy as the next guy. but why am i still targeted for my beliefs and blamed for something that a few people did wrong just because they were muslims (well i don't think they were really muslims cuz your not supposed to kill ppl). i don't have anything against christians, jews, hindus, etc. if someone who was buddist (srry if i spelt that wrong) were to kill someone i wouldn't start giving every buddist dirty looks and target them. i kno everyone doesn't do things lk this but for those who do, how do you justify your actions? i'm 13 and 9/11 made me a stronger person not because i'm happy abt it (which i'm NOT) but b/c i've learned to deal with others. so y dont u?

read the answers above me to see the huge misconceptions uneducated, ignorant people have about Muslims.

britney: okay, so you lost your uncle. I lost family in WW2 due to the Nazis, do you see me going around condemning every single Christian I come across? Grow up, you're nothing but a kid (and far from educated. pick up a dictionary)

We are encouraged by the far-right to hate muslims, gays, and immigrants, among others. They've capitalized on the fear generated by 9-11, and want to blame an entire religion for the actions of a few misguided extremists.
They've manipulated that fear to the point that we'll take our shoes off in airport without a whimper.
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little safety desrve neither liberty nor safety."
--- Attributed to Ben Franklin, but probably Richard Jackson.
Do I hate Christians because a few of them bombed abortion clinics? Would most Christians approve of such a thing? Of course not.
Muslims all over the world denounced 9-11, and pointed out that it is against their religion to kill.
"Muslim," like "Christian," covers a whole lot of people. They don't all walk it like they talk it. The ones who do are generally very peaceable and kind.
Many Americans hate Muslims because they're told to. Others hate out of ignorance. How many of them know any Muslims? What do they know about Muslims other than what some hate-merchant spews on some Christian talk-show?
I would venture to guess very little.
I'm glad to see such a young person thinking about these important questions, and reasoning for him/herself. Good for you! You won't grow up to be a sheep who believes whatever they're told. Too many of us do.

I think in Occident exist a huge ignorance about people in middle East. About muslims and Islam itself. As in all religions exist only a few that do not practice their religion or understand it in a right way. So they are judged just for a few.
Everybody has the right to have their beliefs even when one does not agree with them, we have to learn to tolerate all of them.
Violence and terrorism has nothing to do with religion. We have not the right to condemm all muslims for the acts of a few extremist . I am so sorry, cuz i have muslim friends, good people. They are very hurt too.
I think american are hurt, but cannot believe they may feel hate against all muslim.

Where does it say love the infidel in the Qur an, it dont that bit is in the Bible, the christian add on bit not the Jewish Old testament. The 9/11 guys were devout faithful muslims, well the pilots were the other guys thought they were getting 5 million dollars each for the hijacking and the Pilots were told their families would be well looked after.
Love Allah, love thy neighbour love thy brther aint in the qur an.
You aint much of a muslim if you dont know this.
Why not try the Mormons, they are a pretty good religion if you dont like to be a Catholic and associate with Paedophile priests. Mormons dont often blow up skyscrapers, I can barely remember even one. .

Sorry for the people of the USA. But there are people dying everywhere.
There are African children dying because there is no food, there are terrorists from all the religions but Americans think that they are the center of the world and they think everything is great in the world until something actually happens to them.
I am not a religious person at all i am saying this because it is unfair to innocent people who are categorized just because of their religion.
And what is religion? Isn't it supposed to connect people but i see that people are like "we" and "them" at the moment. Of course if they continue to listen to media and politicians instead of reading, researching, travelling they will stay like this all their lives: uncultured, biased. and that's bad.

i agree w/ you. i am muslim too. but they can't justify their actions/beliefs because it makes no sense to blame a whole group of people for the actions of a few.
