Any pointers on how i should start would be great. and ideas too. =) thx in advanced. the novel isn't based on this religion but it's a major theme in the novel i'm beginning to write...

Here is an example of Stephen King saying in his book On Writing that you must be a great reader to be a great writer. Have you ever read a book with a made up religion? You should to understand. For instance, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep has a made up religion. Laurell K Hamilton has one in her Anita Blake series. Many fantasy works do. I would suggest you read one or two and figure out how they did it. What are the basic things involved in a religion? Beliefs, higher powers, leaders of the church, rituals, services, followers, history of the religion ... Those are the kid of things you need to think about. I highly recommend PK Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. The made up religion Mercerism is one of the major themes of the book. Pax - C

Read L. Ron Hubbard. He was a science fiction author and he started Scientology. Tom Cruize is a devout follower. It's weird but hey, if it rocks your boat, party on!

Think about common morals, think is it more of just a way of life or a real god that is worshipped?

I would reccomend Andrew Greely's "THE GOD GAME". It was a story about that very subject, & it was very good!
