Most likely NO.

Sprint doesn't have any control over which phone number prefixes exist withing different area codes.

For example, if your phone number starts out like this (123) 567-XXXX, and you want to change the area code to (901), chances are there is no city in that region that has that "567" prefix. If it even does, Sprint might not own the rights to it. IT might belong to another cell phone company or even belong to a local municipal phone company.

If you change your area code, you Will be assigned a new number.

Doesn't work no matter what carrier you use.

No.

I guess its a qualified no. There might be a one in one trillion chance that the area code you are switching to and the one you switch from have the same prefixes asigned to mobile phones and the same station code (the last 4 digits) and that some one else didn't already have it but it would be a long, long, long shot.

Most of the US is used to 10 digit dialing so I wouldn't think having a different area code would be that big of a deal.
