It was my first day of college and someone shouted it out on the bus on the way home (it was 2-3pm UK time). I was a bit confused because being a sheltered Brit I'd only ever heard of the twin towers at Wembley Stadium! But I got home and my mum was glued to the news and I was completely in shock for the rest of the day, and I followed the news religiously after that - still do, to this day. Love hearing about the stories of hope that come out of it.

I was on my way to work and I had the radio on like I always do. Just as I was getting ready to get out of my car an announcer came on and said that one of the twin towers had been hit by a jet !! I thought it was like Orson Wells War of the World than I heard someone scream for real and I knew something was terribly wrong! I ran to my department and told them to turn on the radio. It wasn't long after that when the second tower was hit!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing ! We than ran to a place in the building that had a TV and started to see what was happening! We were all very shook up !! I can remember it like yesterday! I will never forget it!! It was surreal !!

Wow.... that was 7 years ago, huh? ._. Back in Elementary School...
I was sleeping (I live on the other side of the US), but when I woke up my dad was out in the kitchen/dining room watching the news and I only saw a little bit of it because I had to get ready for school. And when I got to school the teachers were talking all about it and discussed it with the class. We all knew it as a huge tragedy and was disastrous. ><
And every following year close to 9/11, everyone talks about it everywhere. I think it may be one of THE MOST important events in US History...

I was at home and saw it all on the telly. (By the way, as a Brit you should insist it was 11/9!) A friend of mine escaped narrowly and rang me a day or so afterwards. But why is it so inportant? Rather than worry about that, why don't we worry about the thousands that die every day, in pointless and meaningless wars? Why should I care where I was when the twin towers fell any more than when 5000 Rwandans were slaughtered?

I was at college too..I was about 17 and looking back was so ignorant because I had NEVER heard of the Twin Towers. I didnt realise the scale of what had happened until I got home to watch the news. Shocking. After that I watched lots of foortage and read loads of stuff about it on the net...I felt I had to know what happened etc. It was so massive its beyond words...u just feel u need to educate yourself.

I was on the school bus. There was a news item about a gel that can increase the size of your breasts and I remember thinking that nothing newsworthy happens anymore. Then I got home and found my mum in front of the telly which is strange enough in itself and she was going on about planes flying into building and buildings collapsing and it took ages for it to register in my brain what was happening. I used to be a bit ignorant and didn't know anything about terrorism, I'd never heard or thought about it until that day.

my brother and I were getting ready for grade school, watching sponge bob. all the sudden the phone rang and it was my dad's co-worker from the police department. All the sudden my dad yelled very loudly down the stairs, "Oh my God! Turn on the news! hurry! hurry!" . He ran downstairs and we saw. My brother and I kept saying , "dad, mom! what's happening?!" . All they would say was, I don't know, just go brush your teeth. or just go get your backpack. It was still morning and much was yet to come. They made an announcement at school roughly 1 pm about it. Before that, all we knew was rumors, because we were just elm school kids who heard something about a tower. now we know. when i heard it i didn't believe it. i didn't want to. i was young, but mature. i knew what it could mean. when they asked for a moment of silence, i prayed. i prayed so hard. Later I told my mom that. she knew the principal well and told her. the principal said that she had heard that and she believes that that is what we all should do and what it is for... remembrance and prayers. GOD BLESS!

We were in Washington .
After we managed to get through to the president, (it took a while) then explain to him in simple English what had happened, (that took a while too), we started to wonder how we could find an excuse for a war and make life hell for as many Muslims as possible.
Six years later we're wondering if it was really the best idea!

The White House.
