I need a topic for writing, please help?

I want to write a short story, but I am having extreme writer's block. What are some interesting topics I could write about? Maybe something about death, but not too dark, maybe? Thanks-

I enjoy writing about vampires because you could do almost any form of char, from shy to angry to violent, you could easily write a short story of a vampire watching its next victim.

Also enjoy doing ones on some one feeling trapped, most of my short stories are sad, a girl that is a drug addict a boy that kills himself or tell the story before it all happens and why.

Or go on google and just put in something that seem interesting and look through the photos. that always helps because you find one you like you can write about it things just seem to come to you head.

Death... I hate to say it but is a subject that is over done with short stories. Try something original - maybe Seinfeldian - A story that is really about nothing except someones indifference to someone else's tragedy.

How about an orphan who is left in a parking lot?
How about a war that has been going on for 3 generations?
How about someone who finds out you can still trust sometimes, even though he/she has been hurt before?
How about switching schools--rich kids/poor kids?

Just a few ideas.
I like the picture Idea! I write poems that way.
