Henry Ford sure believed in it for some reason as well as many other prominent people back in the day before they actually controlled and/or owned most media sources and finance.

Conspiracy theory much?

Look at this quote from the letter, "In fact, there is no question that the Protocols is a forgery, created by a Czarist official in the early 20th century to promote the conspiracy theory that Jews are plotting to control the world. Historians, jurists and other authorities have publicly attested to its fraudulence.

The Protocols has been the major weapon in the arsenals of anti-Semites around the world, republished and circulated by individuals, hate groups and governments to convince the gullible as well as the bigoted that Jews have schemed and plotted to take over the world. For too many it continues to have resonance today, at a time when there is an explosion of global anti-Semitism."

I think the reasons are pretty well laid out in that letter.

The book is a forgery that has been used to perpetrate hatred of Jews for generations. The Walmart online catalogue apparently made it seem like it was a non-fiction book.

Personally, I do not believe in censoring even such a heinous book as that. But it is perfectly acceptable for any business to decide not to sell a particular book for any reason they want.

The remedy for misinformation ideally is the communication of correct information. But nobody is compelled to go out of their way to perpetuate the misinformation.

Well, as the letter in your link explains it is believed to be untrue and was used to breed hatred leading up to WWII. Besides, the corporate greed of Walmart is a perfect example of the Bush administration's war on the middle class. Israel, Cheney & Bush are buddies these days as well.

I would hope most people would oppose such an obviously antisemitic work. The Protocols were allegedly first printed by a St. Petersburg (Russia) newspaper in 1903 and were used to support pograms which killed approximately 2,000 Jews in Russia between 1903 and 1906.

It wasn't all of the Jews, it was one Jew.

The Protocols of Zion is forgery written by the russians back when the Czars ruled.

The letter is not using intimidation, it is simply asking walmart not to endorse the lies that caused the shedding of the blood of innocents.

Because that "book" is not only a forgery, but has been used to justify anti-Semitism for about 100 years. I wouldn't have any objections to its being sold in general, but too many people are way too stupid (sound familiar to you? Not that I'm accusing anyone **here** of that...) to understand truth from hateful propaganda.

Hopefully Wall-Mart made that decision themselves when they realized that the book is an archaic peice of Nazi propoganda. Only an an idiot would read and believe a piece of pulp with no bibleography or legitimate sources! Not to mention that it's an entirely ridiculous concept!

Why do you care?? I cannot for the life of me understand why total losers blame their miserable little life on Jews, or some other minority of the day. You sound like a bigot. I am not Jewish, but I do feel they have been unfairly persecuted for centuries for vague, groundless reasons. So stop already.

The Protocols have been proven to be false. Why spread anti-semitic propaganda? i have not seen copies of Mein Kampf in there either, you want to read that too?

That's an old bogus book used by the Nazi party to sell their blame the Jew scheme. I can't believe there are people today who still think it is non-fiction.
