how do you find the domain of a function? example: the range is 0, infinity and the function is the square root of x-1. how woulf i find the domain. please help i have a big test tommorow.

Find the domain of the function

y = √(x - 1)

The square root must be of a non-negative number. Therefore the domain is:

x - 1 ≥ 0
x ≥ 1
