Suppose a treadmill has an average acceleration of 4.7 * 10^ -3 m/s^2

a) How much does its speed change after 5.0 min?
To find this I used the formula a=v/t (Acceleration = velocity / time) and when I solved it I got 1.41 m/s.

b) If the treadmill initial speed is 1.7 m/s, what will its final speed be?

In this second question I don't even know where to start. Can someone help me please?

You already solved the problem. You found that the speed change in the 5 minute interval is 1.41 m/s. All you have to do is add that to the initial speed, which is 1.7, to find out what the final speed will be (3.11 m/s).

Since you know the difference in speed after 5 minutes, the final speed will be 1.7 + 1.41 = 3.11 m/s

The complete formula is:

v = u + at
v = Final speed
u = Initial speed
a = acceleration

All you need to do is use the formula v(f) = v(i) + at, where:
v(f)= final velocity
v(i)= initial velocity
a = acceleration
t = time
If you assume that the treadmill will reach its final speed in 5 minutes (300 sec)......
v(f) = 1.7 m/s + (.0047 m/s^2)(300s)
you get a final answer of 3.11 m/s.

After all this time, you'd feel the acceleration and blow a heart valve. I'm just tired thinking of such experince.

If we assume the bikes are traveling towards each other, they will meet in one hour. Since the bee flies at 30 km/hr, it will travel 30 km in the one hour it takes the bikes to meet.
