Same 2 reasons, also I love the beauty of my Country. The people are for the most part decent. I spent 20 years of my life in uniform and had ample chances to see how the rest of the world lives.

1. The relative freedom of speech, even for those that spew their inane, jingoistic nationalism.
2. The separation of church and state, even if it may be only in principle.

As an aside, The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Index of Democracy ranks countries from most to least democratic. The rank of the U.S.? Seventeenth. Moreover, in terms of civil liberties, the U.S. is far from the top. (Before bemoaning The Economist, just know it is a very libertarian publication, not some 'leftist' rag as some of you may jump to assume.)
Here is the list of countries ahead of the U.S. in terms of overall score:
Country ~ Overall Score
Sweden ~ 9.88
Iceland ~ 9.71
Netherlands ~ 9.66
Norway ~ 9.55
Denmark ~ 9.52
Finland ~ 9.25
Luxembourg ~ 9.10
Australia ~ 9.09
Canada ~ 9.07
Switzerland ~ 9.02
Ireland ~ 9.01
New Zealand ~ 9.01
Germany ~ 8.82
Austria ~ 8.69
Malta ~ 8.39
Spain ~ 8.34
U.S. ~ 8.22

Obviously, I agree with your choices, but I also love this country for its beauty- every single state is so different and beautiful! Every major American city has its own flair and diversity. You can be anyone you want to be as long as you have a passion for life and have the desire to work hard for it. This country (excepting the present government) will ALWAYS be awesome. Always. Let's put aside our differences for a moment and remember and respect all who died (except for the terrorists, they can rot in Hell) on 9/11/01.

Sorry, I can't think of any. The US is just a war-mongering nation these days.
edit: "arborsurgeon", the number 1 reason you specified is precisely why Bush is running the country into the dirt, because anybody (regardless of training, education) can be president. Shouldn't there be some qualifications to weed out the bums like Bush and co.?

1. I can make fun of the President if I want to without getting arrested, provided I'm not making a threat (this always freaked out my ex from Mexico, watching comediens on TV poke fun at the President, he couldn't believe they wouldn't get in trouble)
2. Opportunity to be whomever you wish to be... if you can't make it here in the USA, then you're a total loser.

1) I am allowed to think, say, and act, for the most part, how I want to -- without regard for how others feel about it -- because I know that unless my rights infringe upon theirs, my rights are sacred.
2) I have the ability, here, to oppose the government, and to actively work to modify things like the gay marriage ban, without having to fear serious repercussions from the government for my opposition (after all, dissent is the highest form of patriotism).

I am a fat, balding man with crooked teeth, and a “Big Bird” nose... who’s unemployed. I have been told that I look like Kid Rock on numerous occasions and have a high S3X drive. Take that how you want... you’ll never know the truth. : P CyberNara
