simple answer is, don't think about the audience.
Practice the speech at home. In front of mirrors if you want to. Practice it to the point that you are confident that you know the speech by memory.
Then confidently walk up to the front, look at the crowd and think to your self. I practiced so much that i can't F up. And just go from there.
Or... you can imagine that they are nothing more then bunch of ninderthal or chimpanse and ratonga... or even teddy bear.
Just be confident, belive in your self. If you make a mistake go with the flow. Don't try to fix the mistake by repeating the sentence. and you will do fine.

I used to be that way as well, but a few years ago i realized something; When you are watching someone else go up and do a presentation or talk aloud, do you care what they do or if they make any mistakes? Chances are no, and no one else cares either. Even if you mess up (which never happens), no one will pay attention or care enough to make any deal out of it whatsoever. They wont come up to you afterwards and tell you about it, or even give it a second thought. Thats just how i feel about it though. Everyone else has to do it as well so just have fun with it because even if youre nervous, chances are no one will even mind a mistake. Hope that helps!

Really practice your opening statement. If you start with a good opening your hook the audience's attention.
Also choose subjects that are useful to the audience maybe as a student give one on time management, organization or memorization.
If it's a speech class tell them about Toastmasters International that should impress the teacher.

this may sound vague and useless but...practice as much as you can before presentations. tip: be one of the first to present ..don't wait to be the last presenter because you will suffer through all that anxiety and what not. just get up there and finish.
teachers might also be more easy in terms of grading, with the first person ..because he or she may be setting the example by going first. goodluckkk!

being in front of people comes natural to me.. to others it is hard.. I suggest that you imagine that all the people in the audience are sitting in their underwear.. look at them as though thats all they have own.. it should give your mind the relaxed diversion it needs. Take a deep breath smile and speak one thought at a time. How do you eat and elephant? one bite at a time.. so speak one thought at a time..

Be prepared. Rehearse. After going through it a few times, it'll be much easier. Oh, and give yourself a break. Like anything else, you get better when you do it. C. :)!!

Take lessons, ask the ones you know better to tell you about themselves - you might be surprised!
