Step 1- get rid of brackets.
2(x-3) -> 2x -(2*3) or just 2x - 6
Step 2- get all the x bits on one side of the equals sign.
2x -6 = x + 3, subtract x from both sides
2x -x -6 = x -x +3
x -6 = 3
Step 3- get rid of anything else on the same side as x
x -6 +6 = 3 +6
x = 9
-- HELPFUL BIT --- Check your result !
Does 2(9 -3) = 9 + 3 ?
Does 2 (6) = 12 ?
Yes indeedy, so it must be the righgt answer.
