I've just moved in earlier this year in this 2bedroom apt in NJ. And now I want to move because this problem right here takes the cake. My landlord that lives downstairs went on vacation before rent was due. Now my bathroom for the second time, have a major hole in the sealing from a leak and everyday and night it leaks water. We can't use the toilet cause that's where the leak is. So we do number one in the tub and number two in a garbage bag or go downstairs and use his toilet. My husband did not pay him the rent because of this. I want to move, but he said we should wait it out. This house already had mice in it and bunch of mosquitos. The bathroom stinks and has little bugs flying around. We only really use it for the shower. I've videotaped everything. We don't have money to move, yes, but I want to use the two months that I had paid him when I had moved in. So now I asked, what you think I should do here? I also have children and we use our sheets & clothes on floor cause its wet

Are you kidding me! Wow woman.....put your foot down and make your husband wake up, Children have no business living in a situation like that plus why would you want to stay in a situation like that. Tell you husband that he needs to trust your judgment on this one and it's time to move!!!

Omg you are living like you are in a third world country . get the heck out of there and if your husband wants to live in these conditions then let him and you and the kids move . plain and simple tell him that you and the kids are moving and if he does not then so be it . you should not have to live like that .

You can't just refuse to pay rent, but here's what you CAN do - call someone to fix the problem yourself and submit receipts instead of payment for rent.

first of all, that is really gross! since you mentioned you have children you need to make them your first priority. you are abusing them by making them live in a fly infested, wet, moldy, stinky and uncomfortable apartment. you need to make your husband aware of this and how it is actually harming your children!!!! if someone were to complain to social services (like your childs teacher) they could take your children away into a more suitable living situation. there is no excuse to force your children to poo in a bag like they live in a third world country! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
