I love authors such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton, Thomas Harris, Richard Preston, etc. What other authors/books are kind of like these genres? Thanks :-)

Those are all wonderful authors. If you are looking for something that's along a paranormal base, I suggest Rose Marie Wolf, Kelley Armstrong, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K. Hamilton. Their books center around paranormal, with some mystery, horror and romance thrown in.

Robert McCammon writes some pretty scary horror stories... he's a great writer. One of my favorites of his is a non-horror book called Boy's Life, though.

Mystery... based on the authors you named... you would like...

Greg Iles - try Mortal Fear, Blood Memory, Dead Sleep, The Quiet Game, Turning Angel. His books are mysteries, but they're a little different... especially the first three I named. If you like Thomas Harris, you will like Iles for sure.

John Sandford - all of the Prey series featuring Lucas Davenport are GREAT.

Jonathan Kellerman - all of the books in the Alexander Delaware are GREAT... I'd start with the first, When the Bough Breaks.

Edgar Allen Poe, a few of the books by Sherman Alexie (very dark stuff), some of Ruth Rendell's mystery books--get the ones from the criminal's viewpoint-- Any book by Patricia Highsmith, but particularly the Ripley series, to be read in order; Peter Straub (especially "Ghost Story"), James Patterson's Alex Cross mysteries if you like psychological profiling-of-serial-murderers stuff--he'll add in the criminal's view, too-- Winslow has written a few good mysteries, good criminal activity if you know what I mean, and description of those trying to cap it; I think I'm about tapped out right now!

There are many authors but I think you're going to enjoy very much Howard Phillips Lovecraft. He is a wonderful writer. His tales and novels are different than other horror authors because he tells a world full of mystery and beings came from the space to intend destroy at human beings. moreover some of those beings are living her in mountains, under the sea or in rain forest. The first time I read him Stayed in shock because, for a moment, I think that world was real.

All his stories are awesome.

I suppose if you're looking for horror, listen to Ali. But the best suspenseful mystery movie I've ever seen is Shutter Island. It's amazing. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Scorsese directs. Seriously, watch it.

You people are monsters.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote both Mystery(Sherlock Holmes, when it comes to mysteries you do not top Sherlock Holmes) as well as Horror.

I can definitely reccomend the Complete Sherlock Holmes as well as The Best Horror Stories of Arthur Conan Doyle, which is a paperback of his, well, best horror stories.

Both worth your time.

I agree with Poe, but the best horror story I have ever read is easily Dracula by Brahm Stoker. Free online and surprisingly excellent.

Clive Barker is undoubtedly in the same class as Steven King. He tends to start out slow, but once you get in to his books, they are impossible to put down. He also wrote the Hellraiser movies.
Also, Neil Gammon (spelling?) His book, American Gods is terrific.
