Ok. So I'm very frustrated with my skin. During and after my period my face is almost completely clear. But, when I start ovulating, my face breaks out horribly. I know it's normal to get a few zits while you're ovulating, but I get like 15. It's gross and I hate it!
Should I change my skin regimen while I'm ovulating, or is it a problem that I'm having such strong hormonal reactions?
Thanks.

It sounds like your ovulation is causing an increase in your skins oil which is clogging pores. During this time you might want to try washing your face more often then you normally would, plus a gentle exfoliate at night. You want also want to avoid moisturizers as they can clog pores.

The causes of acne
Many people believe that acne is caused by stress, dead skin cells, oily skin and a poor diet. While these could all be factors, they are not the primary reason. One of the main causes of acne is bacteria. The substances that fill the narrow follicles in the skin may produce a plug, which is an early sign of acne. When the pore, or the opening of the follicle, is blocked, the mixture of oil and cells allows bacteria that normally live on the skin to grow in the plugged follicles. These bacteria produce chemicals and enzymes and attract white blood cells that cause inflammation. When the wall of the plugged follicle breaks down, it spills everything into the nearby skin - sebum, shed skin cells, and bacteria - leading to pimples.

It is because of 2 problems. First, estrogen levels. You need to eat more phytoestrogen-type foods. Soy bean is high in isoflavonoids (soy milk, tofu etc). Flax is high in lignans oen of the most effective anti-oxidants type of phytoestrogen). Eat some citric fruit such as orange, grape fruit. They are high in bioflavoniods and vitamin C.
Secondly, you may be high in LDL and low in HDL. If you eat lots of fried or deep fried foods, you can take less.
Both proteins and sugar increases chances of bacterial infections (acnes, pimples ...). You can eat some herbs to reduce the symptons. For example, garlic, parsley, ginger, thyme. Eat green salad 3 times a week or more. Stop drinking pops with high sugar content.
Eat flax seed oil or hemp oil with your salad or oat meal or steamed rice etc. Take at least 2 tspns a day. It is high in Omega-3 (57%) and is a good fat to provide HDL for your body needs.

Besides all the other good answers, you may want to ask the doctor about the possibility of a hormone imbalance. You may need to take some form of hormones to regulate your cycle better.

Actually what I do is everyday I wash my face with a face wash then I rinse then I put rubbing alcohol on it. It does not dry it out and my skin is clean and clear.

Check with a dermatologist and see if they can prescribe something to counter the effect of the hormones causing your breakouts.
