angles are measured in degrees, (or grads), or radians. cos(55°) = 0.57358, a pure decimal. cos(55 radians) = 0.02213, another pure decimal.

Nothing -- that's the cosine of 55 degrees, which is a scalar (number with no units attached).

You need a calculator to do that.There is no addition or subtraction formula that can give you 55.
