1. -38+20=+18
2. 15-7+3=11 yd line
3. 124.53-57.49+103.49=170.53
4. 37-16+18=39. The submarine ends up 2 feet lower than the first dive.

1. Temperature is -18 deg F (-38+20= -18)

2. The ball is now on the 11-yd line (15-7+3=11)

3. The balance is now 170.53(124.53-57.49+103.49=$170.53)

4. The submarine is at 39ft (37ft -16= 21, 21ft+18ft= 39ft)

1. minus 38 plus 20 is minus 18 degrees.
2. 15 minus 7 plus 3 puts the ball on the 11 yard line.
3. take the opening balance, subtract the check you wrote, and add the deposit you made. New balance is $170.53
4. question is probably mis-stated. you said, what is the "next change." you probably meant the "net change." If so, the answer is minus 37, plus 16, minus 18. The sum of those is minus 39, so the net change is that the sub is 39 ft. lower, compared to where it started.

1. this says the temp was -38F at 5am and increased by 20F by 11am. so add 20F to -38F to calculate the temperature at 11am: -18F

2. 15yd - 7yd (subtract because it is a loss taking them back toward their own goal line) + 3yd (add a gain)
= 11 yd line

3. 124.53 - 57.49 + 103.49 = ending balance
I'll let you do the arithmetic

4. -37 ft + 16 ft -18 ft = -39 ft
where negative means a dive
so the net change is -39 ft, that is, they are 39 ft lower than where they started

- 38 + 20 = - 18

15 - 7 + 3 = 11

124.53 - 57.49 + 103.49 = 170.53

- 37 + 16 - 18 = -39

2007-09-11 13:11:48 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

1. -38+20=-18.
2. 15-7+3= 11
3. 124.53-57.49+103.49= 285.51
4.37-16= 21, 21+18= 39ft in depth, or -39ft, so the sub is 18 feet lower than 21

So these questions werent even designed to stump you. Just do your homework next, cheeter! haha! im just kidding.

My math teacher explained it to me in a way that made sense. You have to translate the words to math language. There are certain key words that mean different things, Equals key words- is, are, was, were, will begives, yields sold for Addition-increased by more than combined, together total of sum added to Subtraction- decreased by minus, less difference between/of less than, fewer than Multiplication-of times, multiplied by product of Division- per, a out of ratio of, quotient of percent (divide by 100) Hope this helps!
